According to <a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_genre" rel="nofollow">Wikipedia</a>, &quot;the distinctions between genres and categories are flexible and loosely defined, often with subgroups.&quot; How should teachers approach traditional genres, such as poetry, short stories, drama and novels, as well as the enormous variety of subgenres.<br />

Subgenres include: epic, sonnet, haiku, lyric, historical fiction, epistolary novel, young adult fiction, adventure novel, romance, memoir, graphic novel, slave narrative...<br />
